Ultrasound is a non invasive procedure that is used to help our vets to visualise and assess internal body structures. This has many applications in helping us to obtain information and diagnose many conditions including:
- Gastrointestinal foreign bodies
- Liver and kidney disease
- Pancreatitis
- Assessment of the abdomen and chest cavities in trauma cases
- Pregnancy diagnosis
- Identifying tumours within the abdomen and assessing lymph nodes
- Heart disease
- Locating and guiding the removal of migrating foreign bodies (e.g. grass seeds)
- Identifying musculoskeletal injuries
- Guidance of minimally invasive sample collection
